The Platypus - one of the oddest animals nature has ever conceived. A mammal that lays eggs, has a duck-billed snout, and webbed feet, it's a wacky genetic mixup that defies categorization.

We love this unique creature, and it’s the duck-billed snout that gave the inspiration for the name “Platypus™”.

There is no doubt that the Platypus™ wide concave footpad is as unique as the Australian mammal, for there hasn’t ever been a footpad like this before. A footpad that feels instantly comfortable, and can help reduce foot fatigue on long rides. A footpad that feels as good on road as off, and will last forever due to it's urethane construction. This patent-pending design features a unique shape with underside support ribs designed to offer stable footing and ultimate durability.

Most riders don’t know that simply adding concavity to a to a standard-width footpad has the effect of making it feel narrower. And for people with larger feet, that isn’t so desirable.

By making the footpad ½” wider than the rails, and adding a progressive concavity that starts shallow near the wheel and grows wider towards the tail (here’s the Platypus duck-bill feature), the rider benefits greatly by having a very wide platform while maintaining a locked-in feeling from the gentle concavity. The feel of control is fantastic and the platform for your feet feels wide and stable. A very subtle middle “hump” gives the foot a bit of arch support and helps lock in the back foot when using FlightFins™.   In other words, its a very subtle "W"-shaped concave platform for your feet!  The new Onewheel GT copies this middle hump that we’ve had on our footpad for two years!

The Platypus™ itself is made of polyurethane – unbreakable, shock and vibration absorbing, and tough as nails. But unlike some other "flappin' in the breeze" thin and weak cushy pads out there, this one has great toughness and keeps it's shape.

Another innovation are the screw anchors at the very end of the footpad. Made from stainless steel or high-strength aluminum, these are not weak “inserts” as all other pads use. These anchors are nearly 1” wide metal plates (and around 5-6mm thick) that will never rust and never pull out of the footpad (check out the underside pics below for details). No other footpad on the market can match it.

Each Platy™ also includes a set of 6 stainless steel, black-oxide screws…a standard for all Land-Surf products that prevents rust and corrosion from mucking up your rail threads.

NOTE: The various colors are meant to match the stock bumpers from Future Motion as well as the Fangs 3 bumpers sold here on this site!

For grip tape, we are including the new PlatyGrip exclusively. It's a new, heavy-duty grip tape that is incredibly grippy and durable.

Each Platypus™ comes with two laser-cut grip tapes – one for the Platypus™, and another cut for a stock XR/Plus wood footpad, so that your grip matches!

Once you've tried the Platypus, it's hard to go back to anything else. Many riders start off with a Kush Low / High or Kush Wide, or a Viper pad, or an Airpad, only later to switch to the Platypus. There just isn't anything that compares with the natural comfort and durability, as well as control, that the Platy offers.

Made for full-size Onewheels®, but fits anything that isn't a Pint® (ie, McNugget or Growler are compatible), and compatible with nearly all fenders and FlightFins™.

Includes a free silicone XLR plug (when in stock)!

The best in the game

this is the pad in the game, i have big foots (us12, eu46) but even my guirlfreind who have small feets prefer them, the love hump in the middle makes all the difference, It is the best improvement you can make on your board, pad are the connectioni between you and the board.

Having size 12 feet, I find that I strongly prefer the wider pads, and the platypus suits that need amazingly. I also rock the platysense on one of my boards that has been reliable and let's me wear my work boots on them, which other concave sensor pads don't have that same luxury.

The platypus is also significantly easier to modify as a front if you'd like to your own sensor, as instead of having to use a dremel and carve out a channel for wiring, all you have to do is cut thru the grid on the back! These things are just great to work with.

Thanks to Matt for knowing his customer base well enough to email me when he saw my order to ask if I wanted grip tape applied or not, which I didn't, since it was a mod. Thanks Matt for saving me even more!

Platypus

Bought this shortly after starting out and the difference from the stock rear pad is substantial. Always feels very locked in and it definitely helps if you have big feet.

Platy rear footpad

Really happy with the additional surface area and concave the platypus provides. Allows the rider to grip the edge which assists in providing more control over the board, especially while carving. Very satisfied with this product.

Platypus/Sense

Ive had over a year of riding on the platypus rear pad and have to say its great. Plenty of room for your feet to adjust. The kick is just the right height to keep yo locked in. The concave is just right. Now just imagine that on the front and you have the platysense. Ive been riding on the platysense for about a month now. its the V3 edition. no copper sheets, switches. just plug and play. and its awesome. My Gt has been sitting in its stand for a month cause this thing bombs trails.
People may be turned off from having a single zone sensor but i dont mind it at all. Sensitivity is great and to dismount its not hard at all. (Put your toes one the tip of the pad and lift your heel. It shuts off)

Once the gt iteration comes out ill be first inline. My favorite pad set up by far.

Most excellent!

Honestly, wish I bought it 1000km ago! Took me a ride to get use to it... completely different feel than a stock XR! Because of the concave and amazing grip tape...you really feel "locked" into the board...trail shred-ability was awesome... the OW is so much more responsive now. And I love the look!
